The Final Fantasy XVI The Ten of Clubs boss battle is intense. He’s swinging his axe wildly trying to kill Clive and stop the hunt from proceeding. With Clive’s precise dodging and highly skilled moves, however, you should be able to take down this B-level hunt easy. Here’s how to beat the Final Fantasy XVI The Ten of Clubs boss and where to find him.

The Ten of Clubs hunt is available once the Things Fall Apart main storyline quest begins. This is significantly far into the game, so don’t expect to fight this boss early on. It is Level 35 after all.

Where to find The Ten of Clubs in Final Fantasy XVI

To get to The Ten of Clubs in Final Fantasy XVI, you’ll want to go to The Jaw’s fast travel point in The Dhalmekian Republic. Go to the World Map and spawn over to this desert area. Next, go north and then east into The Sickle area. You can ride your trusty chocobo to get to your destination faster. Now, head south into The Fields of Corova. You’ll see some white-colored ruins up ahead. The Ten of Clubs is awaiting you with his mighty axe equipped.

How to beat The Ten of Clubs

This boss is similar to many other heavy enemies in the game. However, he has some tricks in store for you. Watch out for his Peine Forte attack. He slams his axe into the ground and forms ripples of earth that can hit Clive from below. Try to avoid this attack to the best of your ability.

His standard attack is easy to precision dodge. If you have the Berserker Ring equipped and precision dodge, you’ll get a quick flurry for flame attacks that are usually available during your Limit Break. It will reduce his stamina level quickly. Another useful way to reduce his stamina quickly is Aerial Blast. The Ten of Clubs is fairly immobile so he’ll keep getting hit by the gust of your tornado.

As his HP begins to lower, The Ten of Clubs will unleash Execution. He’ll charge up in a blue aura and then go berserk with four wide swings of the axe. Try to get out of the way or even parry his attacks to disrupt this four-hit combo. If it lands, prepare to take around 1,200 to 2,000 damage, depending on how much defense you have and the hits you take.

Once The Ten of Clubs is staggered, try to overwhelm him with abilities like Flames of Rebirth and Judgment Bolt. I also found Ignition extremely useful as it inflicts many hits and increases the damage multiplier with the bigger attacks. With this strategy against The Ten of Clubs, I was able to get the It’s Over 50,000 trophy which has you deal 50,000 damage while a foe is staggered.

If you succeed, you’ll gain:

  • 2,200 Experience Points
  • 70 Ability Points
  • 9,200 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 1 Scarletite
  • 1 Meteorite

Clive also mentions that The Ten of Clubs and himself are “more similar than he knew” as they both are deserters turned outlaws. Interesting.
