Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) Gobermouch location and Hunt guide

Gobermouch Final Fantasy XVI

The Final Fantasy XVI Gobermouch is surprisingly easy to find. If you’re careful, this monster is also a relative breeze to defeat. However, there are some tricks to be aware of as you fight this seemingly unassuming goblin.

You can only access this hunt when you begin the Brotherhood main quest. It’s very close to the end of the game, so Gobermouch is a late boss in Final Fantasy XVI. Here’s how to beat it.

Gobermouch location & directions in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)

Once you know where Gobermouch is, you may laugh. It can be easily located in the abandoned town of Eistla in the Kingdom of Waloed. Go to the world map and on the eastern side, you’ll find the Eistla fast travel location. Have Clive emerge into this area and on the opposite side, you’ll find a stairway. Go up it and on the top, you’ll see Gobermouch ready to fight you.

How to beat Gobermouch

Gobermouch is a strange hunt because it actually doesn’t have a stamina meter. It’s like a regular enemy with a powerful array of abilities. One of those is called Little Swing. Like a larger enemy, it will begin to swing its club, and despite the name of the attack, it has quite a long range. The attack can hit you fast, so make sure you precision dodge it at the right time or stay away from it. If Clive gets caught by this move, his health will quickly drop.

The Goblin Punch is what you should be wary of the most. Gobermouch will charge at you with a lit blue fist and then begin to punch your hero repeatedly. I took around 1,000-1,500 damage from this attack alone. Make sure you have your HP high regularly during this bout. His surprise attacks are the reason why Gobermouch is an A-class boss, but they can certainly be avoided.

Use powerful moves like Judgment Bolt and Ignition to reduce his HP quickly. I also found that parrying its attacks makes it stumble to the ground. In these cases, you have ample opportunity to hit him with your best attacks. I was also able to get this goblin in the corner, pummeling it with my combos over and over. Once you’ve figured out the rhythm of these two abilities, he should be easy enough to eliminate. Watch out for his regular vertical attack, as that can dish out 400 damage and leave Clive staggered for a few seconds.

Get the Primitive Battlehorn by defeating Gobermouch!

For vanquishing the Final Fantasy XVI Gobermouch boss, you’ll gain the following:

  • 1 Primitive Battlehorn
  • 4,800 Experience
  • 90 Ability Points
  • 15,000 Gil
  • 30 Renown

Other bosses like The Pack and The Ten of Clubs are harder to reach, but you should reap the benefits of defeating every hunt in the game. The Gil is worth it alone.
